Did you know? The average length of stay for refugees in camps worldwide is 20 years. If you are a woman head of household in a refugee camp, you face the daunting challenge of restoring some sense of security for your children (even when you yourself are traumatized), the near-impossible dream of finding money to keep them in school, and the desperate fact of daily hunger. Mercy Beyond Borders supports 250 refugee women heads-of-households by funding a 2-year training program. In the first year, they learn perma-gardening, an intensive high-yield agricultural approach. In the second year, they learn business basics and receive a grant to launch their own businesses.

Recent figures reveal that EU aid, known as Official Development Assistance (ODA), meant to support human development and fight inequality in the poorest countries, is falling short!Instead of helping developing countries improve their human development index, a lot of this money is currently spent in donor countries to help with refugee costs. While this is important and a human rights obligation, donor countries should find other ways to cover this cost without diverting funds meant for the world's poorest communities. There are 2.8 billion people worldwide who lack adequate housing, which means they live in homes that are not structurally safe, making them vulnerable to the effects of natural disasters and lacking basic amenities like clean water and sanitation. These numbers are expected to grow, so it's really important for aid to be used correctly because everyone deserves a decent place to live. #HomeEquals Read more here: https://ow.ly/7lpe50Syuqv

🌟 Impactful Contributions: My Experience at the Refugee Transit Center in Radauti 🌟Have you ever considered the profound impact of collective humanitarian efforts? I'm excited to share my journey with the Refugee Transit Center in Radauti, a safe-space for over 16,000 refugees, coordonated under the leadership of Mr. Parasca.🔹 Comprehensive Support in Times of NeedIn the midst of adversity, the center has been a cornerstone of hope, offering more than just shelter. It has provided a sense of security and normalcy for those displaced by conflict. My role, though modest, played a part in the essential operations and support services that significantly impacted many lives. A notable mention must go to UNHCR, which generously covered the rent for 36 containers, including toilets and showers, and temporarily took care of food provisions. This support was crucial in ensuring the well-being and dignity of all those sheltered at the center.🔹 Leadership with a VisionThe initiative's success is largely attributed to Mr. Parasca, the emergency camp's head. His effective coordination and unwavering dedication have been pivotal in providing temporary refuge and a glimmer of hope in the darkest times.🔹 A Journey of Growth and ReflectionThis endeavor has been more than a professional commitment; it has been a journey of personal growth. Witnessing the resilience of the human spirit and the collective effort to support those in need has been profoundly inspiring.🔹 Looking to the FutureThe experiences and connections forged at the Refugee Transit Center will indelibly influence my approach to humanitarian work. While the journey ahead is long, our united efforts can make a significant difference.📌 Join the ConversationI'm eager to hear your thoughts on the role of community and leadership in crisis situations. How can we further enhance support for such critical initiatives? Share your views below. #HumanitariansAtWork #Leadership #CommunitySupport

Reflecting on the crucial discussion sparked by about the allocation of Official Development Assistance (ODA), it's clear that our efforts must evolve. Rather than simply advocating for more funding, it's imperative to enhance the efficiency and impact of existing resources. The construction sector, responsible for significant global challenges, including biodiversity loss and climate change, must undergo disruptive innovation. Imagine if we could improve efficiency and productivity by 50% – it would effectively amplify our impact as if we had doubled our budget; while substantially reducing environmental footprint. With billions lacking adequate housing globally, despite substantial annual budgets, it's evident that current approaches are falling short. It's time for a paradigm shift towards sustainable, productive, and impactful solutions. Let's channel our collective efforts towards leveraging technology and innovation to ensure everyone has a decent place to call home, on Earth and beyond!BlueCity (010) Climate-KICHabitat for Humanity NederlandKOMPAS VCNL Space CampusSpace Business Innovation Centre Noordwijk#SustainableDevelopment #DisruptiveInnovation #EfficiencyMatters

Multiple U.S. federal government agencies are involved with the URM program, including theDepartment of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), theDepartment of State (DOS), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). ORR provides federal funds for services to new populations in the United States, including URM program services. ORR also provides guidance, oversight, and regulations related to the administration of the program and serves as the custodian for many unaccompanied minors in the United Statesbefore the youth are eligible for the URM program. DOS is the federal agency that coordinates the resettlement of foreign-born children to the United States, manages the initial reception and allocation of URM cases, and works with DHS, which approves an unaccompanied refugeeminor’s admission to the United States. DHS also is the initial identification point for manyunaccompanied minors who eventually enter the URM program from within the United StatesThe United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) also assists with theidentification, assessment through best interest determinations, and referral of unaccompaniedrefugee children worldwide in need of resettlement to the United States. Resettlement, alongwith return and integration, is considered one of the durable solutions for refugees and otherpopulations within forced migration contexts. #URM #familyreunification #AtPromiseYouthSolutions #Houston #Texas #trailblazer #fostercare #fosteringsaveslives #fosterparents #fostering #fosterlove #fosterfamily #fostercareawareness #fosteringsaveslives #nonprofit #fosterkids #fosterchildren #GregBoyle #lovewhatyoudo #WomeninBusiness #momtrepreneur #DreamBig #AtRiskYouth #entrepreneurlife #entrepreneurship #entrepreneur
