Ethiopian Airlines, Africa's largest carrier, has solidified its commitment to Boeing by signing a deal to purchase 11 additional 737 MAX jets. This agreement, announced during the Dubai Airshow, will significantly boost Ethiopian Airlines' regional and international connectivity. With the largest backlog of Boeing airplanes in Africa, the airline is poised for growth, leveraging the 737 MAX's renowned reliability, efficiency, and range to meet rising passenger demand across Africa, the Middle East, India, and Southern Europe.
The deal, worth an estimated $1.2 billion, will enable Ethiopian Airlines to expand its Addis Ababa hub, further solidifying its position as a key player in the African aviation industry. The airline's CEO, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting its alignment with the airline's growth plans and commitment to delivering high-performance, comfortable airplanes to its customers.
This agreement also marks a significant milestone in Boeing's nearly 80-year partnership with Ethiopian Airlines, reinforcing the company's dedication to supporting the airline's expansion.
