Prep Time 15 minutes mins

Cook Time 15 minutes mins

Total Time 30 minutes mins

Ingredients

  • 6 eggs - separated
  • 60 g cocoa powder
  • A few drops of vanilla
  • 70 g of sweetener can be adjusted to your taste

Frosting

  • 4 tbsp of quark
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp sweetener

Instructions

  • Firstly, squirt a baking tray with fry light then line with baking paper. I used a fairly long tray but use whatever you have!

  • Warm the oven to 180

  • Separate the yolk and the whites of the eggs - keep both - and whisk the whites in to a soft peak.

  • Next mix together the yolks, vanilla, cocoa powder and sweetener in another bowl, at this point it can get a little dry so add a little of the egg whites to loosen it up.

  • After this fold in the rest of the egg whites, pour in to a tray and pop in the oven.

  • I cooked mine for 15 minutes but depending on your tray you may need a few more minutes.

  • When nice and cool you can prepare your frosting.

  • Mix together the quark, sweetener and cocoa powder - it's super yummy!

  • Cut the brownies in to 25 add the frosting

Now don’t these look yummy! Sometimes you simply need a bit of something sweet and these Slimming World Chocolate Brownies are a perfect alternative to regular brownies, cakes or chocolate which would be so much higher in syns.

FAQs

How many syns is cocoa powder on Slimming World? ›

You can clearly see that the lowest syn values found for cacao powder is 2.5 syns per TBS if you buy that specific brand. Other brands are listed as 1 syn per teaspoon, and there are 3 teaspoons in the UK Tablespoon (4 in a US one).

What's the difference between chocolate brownies and cocoa brownies? ›

Cocoa brownies are richer in chocolate flavor, while chocolate brownies are lighter and sweeter in flavor.

What does cocoa powder do in brownies? ›

First up, texture: Cocoa brownies stay softer than chocolate brownies—they won't feel dry or crumbly, even if you prefer, like me, to eat them straight from the fridge—because they get their fat from butter as opposed to cocoa butter.

What can I substitute for brownie mix? ›

You can make several substitutions to help improve a boxed brownie mix and make it taste homemade. One change is to use milk or heavy cream instead of water. This change will make brownies more moist and gooey since milk is more fatty and flavorful than water. A second change is to use butter instead of oil.

Can you drink Coke Zero on Slimming World? ›

🥤 Sugar-free fizzy thirst-quenchers, like diet cola and diet lemonade, are Free on Slimming World (which means that you can enjoy them as often as you like, without any weighing, measuring or counting).

How many SYNS are you allowed a day at Slimming World? ›

Slimming World Syns

The key is moderation, which is why alcohol and foods that are high in fat or sugar have a Syn value. Slimming World members are encouraged to plan 5-15 Syns a day to keep their weight loss on track, without feeling like they're missing out.

What makes brownies cakey vs fudgy? ›

Fudgy brownies have a higher fat-to-flour ratio than cakey ones. So add more fat—in this case, butter and chocolate. A cakey batch has more flour and relies on baking powder for leavening. The amount of sugar and eggs does not change whether you're going fudgy or cakey.

Can I use drinking chocolate instead of cocoa powder in brownies? ›

Because most brands of hot chocolate powder include sugar or sweetener, you may wish to reduce the amount of sugar you add to your baking recipe. To use it as a cocoa powder substitute, you need to use two teaspoons of hot chocolate mix for every teaspoon of cocoa powder in the recipe.

Can I replace cocoa powder with melted chocolate in brownies? ›

Alternatively, you can use cooking chocolate instead of cocoa powder. Use 30 grams of cooking chocolate for every 24 grams (three tablespoons) of cocoa powder that's required, and 15 grams less butter or oil.

What is the best chocolate for baking brownies? ›

Bittersweet chocolate is a great option for most baked goods (one of our favorite recipes is our Chocolate Chunk Brownies). It has just the right balance of sweetness and a rich cocoa flavor, which is why this chocolate is the most popular among our culinary customers.

What happens if you add too much cocoa powder to brownies? ›

Cocoa powder is a staple for brownies and chocolate cakes alike. But adding cocoa powder alone may transform your brownies from fudgy to cake-like. SBS Australia notes that cocoa powder has a texture similar to flour. Therefore, adding too much cocoa powder can dry out the batter.

Can you use coffee instead of cocoa powder for brownies? ›

Chocolate and coffee are good buddies, tastewise. I often add a teaspoon of espresso powder to brownies. If you swap all the cocoa for instant coffee or espresso powder, you may find the flavor too strong, so I would be judicious the first time you try it.

What happens when you add an extra egg to brownie mix? ›

If you opt to add more eggs, say double the amount, something interesting happens. Even though you are adding more moisture, the air bubbles that you catch in the extra eggs add volume, which decreases the density of your final product. This makes your brownies rise and gives them a much more cake-like texture.

Can you use mayonnaise instead of eggs in brownies? ›

It's a swap that makes sense since mayonnaise is made of mostly oil and egg. It provides moisture, which keeps the baked goods soft and tender, just like oil does. For most recipes, it's a one-to-one substitution, and works in everything from cakes to muffins.

Do you really need eggs for brownie mix? ›

A simple combination of water, baking powder, and vegetable oil mimics eggs almost to a T. It's a great option for cookies, quick breads, and brownies.
