Here’s part two of our carbon cycle video series from FAI’s farm manager, Silas Hedley - Lawrence. As we approached people and explained what we wanted to build with Grounded in Ag and why we thought it was so important to help newcomers get to know our industry, everyone seemed to immediately see the value. Everyone we approached said they would be happy to help, even Dr. Temple Grandin who talked to us about animal handling and stress as well as a few thoughts on beef sustainability. A 20-minute lesson with her is part of our Focus on Livestock Course. Other lessons include how farmers weigh raising livestock indoors or outdoors, managing feed, how pastures are grazed, the types of chores done daily, what's involved in working livestock as well as how farmers, ranchers and vets approach livestock health.
